MS welcomes lotto cash boost for projects

A NORTH WALES Assembly politician has welcomed news that three projects based in the constituency have received a total of £103,386 of National Lottery funding in July after successfully applying to The National Lottery Community Fund.

Clwyd West MS Darren Millar has welcomed Tros Gynnal Plant being awarded £87,000 of funding to expand their existing ‘Team Around the Tenancy’ service to support care experienced young people throughout North Wales with their tenancies.

Support will be provided remotely and a service to combat isolation and loneliness will be introduced as a direct response to COVID-19 challenges.

Coast Community Radio and Media CIC received £9,187 to continue to broadcast a local radio station to share information tailored to the needs of a local audience whilst shielding due to COVID-19.

Llanddulas Youth and Community Centre were also successful in receiving a £7,199 grant to update IT equipment that will enable them to host remote sessions and keep to COVID-19 social distancing restrictions.

Welcoming the news, Mr Millar said: “I am delighted to hear that these three fantastic projects have been awarded these substantial sums from the National Lottery Community Fund to help support communities across Wales through the pandemic.

“This year has been incredibly difficult for many people and community support is more important than ever.

“Since April the National Lottery Community Fund have awarded over £15 million to 588 groups with the majority of these grants helping communities to adapt to COVID-19.

“They’ve responded to 474 enquiries from customers and held virtual funding advice sessions to support groups in accessing funding.

“I would like to thank them for all their efforts, working remotely, to ensure National Lottery money reaches communities through this crisis and beyond.”
