A driver and their passenger died in a crash with a taxi in Northfleet early this morning.

Two men, aged in their 20s and 30s, travelling in a silver Audi A3 collided with a black Citroen dispatch taxi at around 12.15am between Springhead Road and the A2260.

The passenger inside the Audi was declared deceased at the scene, while the driver was taken to a London hospital where he later died.

A woman inside the taxi was also taken to a London hospital via air ambulance where she remains in a serious condition. Her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

The driver of the taxi was taken to local hospital as a precaution.

Police are appealing for witnesses and would like to talk to anyone who saw either vehicle in the moments before the collision.

Motorists with dash cam footage are also being sought.

The next of kin of the two deceased men have been made aware.
