As London and the rest of the UK enters the second national lockdown to protect against the spread of coronavirus, pictures have shown busy scenes during the capital's morning commute.

Under the new rules, which currently run from today until December 2, people are advised to stay at home as much as possible - unless they have a reasonable excuse.

Exemptions to the rules include buying necessities for your household or someone vulnerable.

Despite the new restrictions, pictures taken this morning at multiple stations, including on the Bakerloo and Jubilee lines, show dozens of commuters packed in to crowded stations and trains.

The lockdown doesn't actually prohibit people from travelling in to work, with offices and work spaces allowed to remain open under Covid-secure guidelines if necessary.

This means industries such as construction and manufacturing are allowed to continue operating.
