Police found two stashed Rambo-style knives following a foot chase with three suspects.

On the evening of Wednesday, February 3, officers were patrolling in Selwyn Avenue, Highams Park, when they saw a group of three males who, upon seeing the police, ran off.

Officers gave chase, catching two of the males, a 21-year-old man and 16-year-old boy.

The third male managed to escape officers.

Sniffer dogs were called in to search the area where the males had been and found two Rambo-style knives.

The man and boy were arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon and remain in custody.

Inspector Tony McGovern, of the Violent Crime Taskforce, said: “Thanks to the proactivity of these officers, two dangerous knives - which could’ve been used to cause serious harm to someone - have been taken off the streets.

“Removing horrendous weapons like these and tackling violent crime is our priority, there is no excuse for carrying knives and officers will continue to be out there detecting criminality and bringing those responsible to justice."
