Pictured above in around 1920, the Robin Hood pub was built on the Epping New Road in c1865.
A policeman can been seen standing at the crossroads of this notorious black spot for road accidents.
As a result, a roundabout was constructed and the High Beech road was moved further south in 1936.
The old road can still be traced in the forest today.
