It's the age old question and one every firefighter will be asked at least once in their career - did you rescue any cats from any trees today?

Well for Red Watch crews at Blackburn fire station, the answer to that question would be a resounding, 'yes'.

Lancashire Telegraph:

On Tuesday, the fire service were called to an address in the borough after a six month old kitten got stuck up a 50ft tree.

Lancashire Telegraph:

The tree, which towered way above any of the houses in the area, can be seen in the above image, and luckily for the kitten, named Tig, Blackburn's brave firefighters were on hand to rescue him.

A spokesperson for Blackburn fire station said: "This might be luckiest kitten in Blackburn.

"Six-month-old Tig got stuck right up this 50ft tree.

"Thank goodness Red Watch were on hand to rescue him."

Despite 'rescuing cats from trees' being a long-running joke among the fire service, crews still actually attend such incidents, and are often called to rescues that require a lot more man power, such as freeing sheep from dangerous mud slicks, to helping horses stuckk between railings or fences, to rescuing cows from ditches.
