Two of Watford's sports stars crossed paths when newly crowned boxing champion Shannon Courtenay was pictured with Hornets stopper Ben Foster.

The Babyface Assassin, who became WBA world bantamweight champion earlier this month, posted a picture on her Insta Story alongside Foster with the caption 'Such a good night'.

It is understood that the black and white snap was taken at a pub where the Watford players were celebrating after they beat Millwall 1-0 to secure promotion.

Courtenay, from Abbots Langley, claimed her new belt in early April by unanimous decision after a ten-round brawl against Australian competitor Ebanie Bridges.

Following her success she told the Observer she didn't sleep at first after the fight because she was worried it would all have been a dream, adding "the belt's gone everywhere with me".

"I always knew I would be world champion and when I said it everyone, not laughed at me, but thought, 'oh everyone says that'," she said.

"I knew myself it would happen, but I never in a million years thought I would achieve a world title in my eighth fight. It was crazy."

Meanwhile Foster's Watford team mates did the business on Saturday by winning promotion at the first time of asking after dropping into the Championship last season.

The 1-0 win sparked jubilant scenes in Watford town centre - with hundreds flocking to High Street and partying the evening away.
