Yesterday afternoon , the search intensified for Mr McCann with several police officers, including specialist officers, seen along the A1081 dual carriageway.

At least nine officers were spotted along the A1081, near the Sainsbury's distribution centre, but there's thought to be many more involved in the search.

A police spokesperson confirmed the A1081 closure was connected to Mr McCann's disappearance and the road was closed to allow the search to be carried out more safely.

The road reopened shortly before 4pm (Thursday May 6).
