After months of lockdown and restrictions excitement is building at a Buckhurst Hill church over the return of worshippers.

St James United Reformed Church in Palmerston Road will reopen for worship on Pentecost Sunday, May 23.

“We are all very excited to be reopening for live worship, especially on Pentecost Sunday”, said Margaret Minoletti, one of the elders at the church.

“Whilst we have been worshipping together on Zoom throughout the pandemic it will be good to see each other again and be open to anyone from the area who would like to join us. We know that this pandemic has been a very painful time and the lack of social contact has made the pain much harder for many people.

“So, come as you are, however you feel, maybe sad or in need of support. For some people, the period of lockdown has also been an opportunity to slow down and reflect, maybe even giving you a chance to reset your priorities. So if you feel like trying church again or coming along for the very first time you will find a warm welcome at St.James. Come just as you are.”

Church manager Gerald Lee will be leading the service. “The church was born at Pentecost over 2,000 years ago. Let’s be born again this Pentecost”, said Gerald.

If you would like to come along to the 40-minute opening service from 10.30am on May 23 call 020 85050300 to book your seat.
