The MP for Finchley and Golders Green has blasted the anti-semitic protests seen in north London over the weekend saying they made him "sick to my stomach".

Police are investigating a report of anti-Semitic abuse after a convoy of cars draped in Palestinian flags was seen travelling through north London on Sunday.

In a video that circulated on social media one man is heard blasting through a loudspeaker: "F*** the Jews, f*** the movement, f*** all of them."

MP Mike Freer, who is also the Government Whip, said: "The scenes I’ve witnessed in my constituency today have left me sick to my stomach.

"The blatant and open anti-Semitism on display today, deliberately targeting areas with large Jewish populations is nothing short of incitement and I have urgently raised the matter with the Home Secretary, Commissioner and Mayor.”

He added that the Home Secretary said she was working with police to ensure it was dealt with "swiftly and firmly".

The Metropolitan Police confirmed a few hours after the video appeared on Twitter on Sunday afternoon that four people had been arrested on suspicion of racially aggravated public order offences.

The incident comes amid rising Israeli-Palestinian tensions - in relation to which thousands of pro-Palestinian protesters marched through London to the gates of the Israeli embassy on Saturday.
