One of the many lost inns in Epping high street was The Cock.
Seen above in c1915, the original timber framed building behind the brick façade is said to date back to the 16th century.
A popular coaching inn for travellers passing through Epping, its demise probably came as a result of the M11 motorway construction bypassing the town in the late 1970s.
It was converted into shops and offices in the mid 1980s.
The police station on the right was rebuilt in 1938, sadly closing in 2016.
