A new initiative is giving people the chance to support a charity that helps people living with an incurable and debilitating disease.
The South Herts Branch of the Motor Neurone Disease Association has set up a 100 Club to raise money to support people living with MND in the area.
By joining the club, people can win prize money in a draw every six months.
The South Herts branch will keep half of the money raised. The other half will be given as prize money to the winners, with a first prize of a quarter and a second and third prizes of one eighth of the cash raised.
The branch wants to use the 100 Club to raise as much money as possible to help people in the area living with MND.
MND is a fatal, rapidly progressing disease that affects the brain and spinal cord.
It attacks the nerves that control movement so muscles no longer work but does not usually affect vision, hearing or feeling - leaving people locked in a failing body, unable to move, talk and eventually breathe.
It kills a third of people within a year and more than half within two years of diagnosis.
Six people per day are diagnosed with MND in the UK.
The MND Association was founded in 1979 by a group of volunteers with experience of living with or caring for someone with MND. Across the country there are more than 60 branches and groups run by volunteers.
