A man has been convicted after being linked with three stabbings.

Arslan Ahmed, aged 20, of Waltham Forest, was convicted at Snaresbrook Crown Court on Tuesday (June 22) following investigations into one of the attacks in Walthamstow.

Police were called to Forest Road, Walthamstow on September 7, 2018, after reports of a fight.

A boy aged 17 was found with a stab injury to his neck, but once taken to hospital his condition was not life-threatening.

The victim alleged that he approached an unknown male to speak to him, but the male became immediately aggressive and tried to fight him before stabbing him.

Ahmed was later identified, and was charged in March 2020.

He is due to be sentenced for this offence and two other knife-related offences, for which he has already been convicted and remanded in custody.

Another attack on January 6, 2019, was on the 158 bus at Blackhorse Road tube station, when he became involved in a fight with an 18-year-old.

The victim was stabbed multiple times and he was hospitalised for a month due to his upper body injuries at the time.

In October 2019, he was later involved in an incident in Bradford, in which a man was attacked and stabbed. But his injuries were not life threatening.

Sentencing for all three offences is due to be heard at court on October 5.

Detective Constable Kelly Jones, North East Command Unit, said: “None of the victims did anything to warrant the extreme violence they were subjected to, but on each occasion were thrust into nightmarish scenarios that went from just exchanging words to knives being pulled and used.

“Some of these horrifying and sudden events were carried out, without any apparent care, in front of scores of onlookers who were left absolutely terrified by what was unfolding. In the January 2019 incident, but for the skill of doctors and nurses, the victim could have died. It could have easily been a murder investigation instead.

“Arslan Ahmed is a dangerous and habitual knife carrier. I hope he will spend a considerable time behind bars and am in no doubt that the streets of London will be all the safer for it.”
