London College of Fashion, UAL (LCF) has completed the tallest university building in the UK in the heart of East London.

Opening in autumn 2023, the campus is part of East Bank- a collaboration between universities and arts institutions on Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Stratford.

It will see 6,500 students and staff with facilities including public open spaces, galleries, library and archives.

The building is the tallest university building in the UK at 85.5 metres- to mark the completion of the building a selection of stitched banners were made by the participants of Making for Change – UAL's fashion manufacturing programme.

They represent values of inclusivity, collaboration and authenticity alongside the themes of sustainability, community, and accessible education for all.

The banners will be displayed inside the new building.

Guests, to be amongst the first people to see the new campus, included the Mayor of Waltham Forest, Cllr Elizabeth Baptiste.

"This is particularly the case for the public programme where we will have for the first time, the spaces to showcase fashion education, research and innovation and develop and engage audiences locally and internationally.

“Visitors will be able to use our building and be active members of our community. We built along biophilic principles, placing the experience of the people using the building at its heart.”
