A Chingford man has created a quirky looking sculpture to ahead of COP26- the United Nations climate change conference in an attempt to send a message to the attendees.

The COP26 was originally due to take place in November last year but was delayed as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

Now nearly a year later, on 31 October world leaders will descend on Glasgow alongside senior members of the Royal Family including the Queen, Prince Charles and Prince William, and UK leaders including Prime Minister Boris Johnson aiming to tackle the pressing issue of climate change.

Ben Frearson, 56 of Chingford has made a sculpture to express his frustration on the issue, he believes the conference will be “the last significant chance for the necessary action.”

The design shows hands holding up a globe with a message on top reading “To COP26 save the earth last chance don’t *uck it up.”

Mr Frearson said: “I consider the COP26 conference to be the last significant chance for the necessary action to be taken to save the World, I wanted to express my view graphically so I made the sculptural sign and installed it outside my house.

“I have shared images of my sculptural sign on social media and I am hoping that it will inspire people to do something similar and show the delegates at COP26 that we really do care about our survival and that we really do support them taking whatever action is necessary to save us.

“My message is like a small spark and I want it to catch fire and spread around the World.”

He has since had positive feedback from his neighbours and it has been shared widely on social media.

He added: “I encourage everyone who cares about the future of the human race to send a message of support and encouragement to COP26 urging them to do the right thing and take the action to save our future.”
