Redbridge Council was urged to take action over “the most unhealthy road in the borough” during March.

Linda Wray said the only way to get a salad in Ilford Lane is in a burger and feared schoolchildren have no healthy options available.

After seeing that another two takeaways are due to open to add to the 39 already trading on the mile-long road - one every 50m if they were spread out evenly - she contacted council leader Cllr Jas Athwal.

Ms Wray, who has lived in the area since 1987, said: “You can’t get a salad on Ilford Lane unless it’s in a burger.”

Meanwhile, scientists were confident Waltham Forest and Redbridge had almost no chance of becoming a coronavirus hotspot by the middle of the month.

With lockdown measures easing twice in March, researchers at Imperial College London’s predicted the probability of areas becoming Covid-19 hotspots.

The data was produced by the Medical Research Council Centre for Global Infectious Disease Analysis at Imperial College, in conjunction with its mathematics department.

The website predicted a zero per cent chance of Waltham Forest and Redbridge becoming hotspots by the week ending March 13.

Work began on the construction of 200,000 square feet of warehouses in Harlow.

The new developments at Icon Harlow will join the three warehouses, completed in 2020, in operation at the site.

The latest warehouses were a joint venture by commercial property developer Stoford and private global investment firm, TPG Real Estate.
