Picture at the top of this page is Epping High Road c1905.

The brick built Methodist church dating to 1887 can be seen on the right, however this replaced an earlier iron structure.

Methodists originally targeted the spiritual needs of the poor, and this continued as the focus throughout the 19th century, when Methodism gained immense support from the middle classes.
