Motorists have been warned of long delays and miles of congestion after a multi-vehicle crash on the M11.

The northbound carriageway has been shut by the M25 junction after the collision that is believed to have happened at shortly after 7am this morning (August 15).

Traffic is being held within junction six after one vehicle overturned and came to rest on its side, National Highways confirmed.

Essex Police are at the scene and have been contacted for more details.

The closure has caused delays tailing back towards junction 5 for Loughton, as well as knock-on delays on the M25 anticlockwise to junction 28 for the A12.

At 8.20am National Highways confirmed traffic was released but one lane remains closed for vehicle recovery and clear-up work.

There is approximately 2.5 miles of congestion and 30-minute delays.

Emergency services have not reported any injuries.
