On the left is the tall Burton store, built in c1939 with an art deco granite façade.
Burtons was founded by Sir Montague Maurice Burton in Chesterfield in 1903.
By the time of his death in 1952, the company was the largest multiple tailor in the world.
Burton was the official clothing supplier to the England football team for the 1966 World Cup.

A foundation stone was laid to commemorate the opening but it is now covered or has been removed.
