Although the picture shows Epping High Street Looking towards London c1905, the town can trace its roots to the Domesday Book of 1086.
Today the town still has over 30 statutory or locally listed buildings in Epping High Street and the whole High Street area is designated as a Conservation Area.
A few timber-framed buildings from the 17th century still exist.
