A WOMAN has died after a head-on car crash along a notorious stretch of road.
The 53-year-old victim, from Chadwell Heath, in east London, was driving her green Vauxhall Astra down Holyfield Road, in Waltham Abbey, when she was involved in a collision with a black Vauxhall Corsa last night shortly before 10pm.
Three ambulance crews, and a rapid response vehicle arrived soon after the crash, and the woman was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital, in Harlow, where she died of her injuries shortly after arrival.
The driver of the Corsa, a 22-year-old local man, was taken to Princess Alexandra with serious injuries, and is currently in a stable condition.
A section of the road was closed for five hours to clear debris.
