POLICE are appealing for witnesses to two attacks when young people were assaulted with baseball bats.

A 15-year-old boy was walking in New North Road, Hainault, at 10.10pm on Friday, August 29, when a black Vauxhall Corsa pulled up next to him.

The passenger of the vehicle got out and struck the victim with a baseball bat causing minor injuries.

Then early on Sunday morning, at 3.20am in Fencepiece Road, Hainault, two young women and a man were assaulted while returning from a night out by a group of seven youths.

At first the larger group, consisting four black men and three black women, started verbally abusing the victims before brutally attacking them.

One of the victims received a blow to the head with a miniature baseball base and another lost her handbag during the incident, but police are unsure if robbery was a motive of the attack.

Detective Inspector Andy Kelly said: “These are both serious incidents but we are unsure if there is a connection between them.

“If anyone witnessed these attacks I would ask them to contact the police immediately.”
