JUNIOR FOOTBALL
WALTHAM Forest’s largest football club, Ryan FC, have been accepted into the Eastern Junior Alliance League.
They are the only junior club in the borough to gain membership to a set-up which is mainly semi-professional.
Ryan’s founder and secretary Richard Williams said: “This is a massive achievement for the club which means we are one of the only junior clubs in Waltham Forest that can offer this standard of football for children.
“Our aim at Ryan is to give the boys the progression they deserve from mini football through to senior level and we now compete in all the top leagues around.”
He added: “We also have good relations with a lot of the top pro-clubs and six of our players have been signed on to train with the relevant academies, so we wish them all the best.”
It is Ryan’s championship U13s side of last season who will play in the Alliance this year.
They were League and Cup winners in the Cheshunt Premier League, winning all their matches in their last campaign.
Ryan are starting the season with over 23 teams and also have after-school training and Saturday morning soccer schools for boys and girls.
