Harlow 155-9
Southend-on-Sea 151-a/o
(Division Two)
HARLOW ended their slump in form with a narrow victory that confirmed Southend’s relegation to Division Three.
The Seasiders, who have been bottom of the standings for most of the season, made just 151 in their innings, as the ever reliable Nick Butler (5-60) kept his wicket haul for the season ticking over.
While things became a little tight in the Marigolds men’s reply, a fine undefeated 69 from Nicky Baxter, coupled with Nilesh Odedra’s 60 proved enough, with Harlow having plenty of time on their hands despite only having one wicket to spare.
Delighted skipper James Butler said: “We did everything right, warmed up well, fielded well and bowled our overs in quick time.
“In the end we had over three hours left to get the runs.
"I was really pleased with the level of professionalism the boys showed at this late stage of the season with absolutely nothing to play for.”
