GRAFFITI will be targeted during a week of activities planned locally to help mark Not in My Neighbourhood Week.

Epping Forest District Council’s Safer Communities Team will be working with the police, Voluntary Action, West Essex Primary Care Trust and Essex Fire and Rescue Service to raise public awareness of work being carried out to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour.

A key theme for the week (October 13 to 17) will be graffiti cleaning across the district.

A contractor has been employed exclusively for the initiative and residents are encouraged to report the location of Virgin utility boxes, road or street signs or any district council-owned property which has graffiti that requires cleaning.

Community wellbeing portfolio holder Syd Stavrou said: “To ensure the success of the week we need everyone to act as our eyes and ears and report any relevant instances of graffiti that will then receive our immediate attention.”

The Home Office-led initiative is dedicated to a week of activity and sets out to increase public awareness of work being carried our locally encouraging people to engage with the initiative and boost public confidence.

Graffiti can be reported to the Safer Communities Team on 01992 564272, or by emailing dbond@eppingforestdc.gov.uk.
