KARATE kid Daniel Jenkinson has made it into the elite national squad.

Fourteen-year-old Daniel, of Carlton Road, Walthamstow, was invited to join the Japan Karate Association (JKA) Junior England squad after he impressed the JKA's chief instructor.

Daniel is a Karate Black Belt Master and he has his sights set on the junior world championships in Japan.

He has been training with the Chingford and Wanstead Shotokan Karate clubs for five years, has competed in a number of local and national championships and has picked up a large number of trophies along the way.

Daniel is hoping to represent English karate by taking part in championships in Germany, Yugoslavia and Japan later this year.

Karate fans interested in seeing Daniel in action are welcome to pop along to the clubs at Rush Croft School, Rushcroft Road, Chingford, the Larkswood Leisure Centre, New Road, Chingford, and Wanstead Leisure Centre.
