A MAN who subjected a teenage girl to years of sexual abuse has been handed an indeterminate jail term.

Wojcieh Karenko, 41, of Blackhorse Road, Walthamstow, was found guilty last month of repeatedly raping the girl and filming the abuse on his mobile phone.

Sentencing him at Snaresbrook Crown Court today (Wednesday), Judge Wilkinson said: “All this girl got from you was systematic and persistent abuse over a long period.

“You destroyed the latter part of her childhood. When she was still 15, you made her pregnant and at the age of 16, she bore your child.

“You may not have used physical violence against her but she was in fear of you.

“You further humiliated her by taking lewd photographs of her.”

Karenko will stay behind bars until he is no longer deemed dangerous and will not be eligible for consideration for seven years and 166 days.

Judge Wilkinson added that an indecent photo of another unknown schoolgirl showed Karenko's behaviour was 'developing in other unwholesome directions'.

He said: “Given the scale and duration of the index offences, I am driven to the conclusion that you pose a significant risk to the public of serious harm.”

He also said Karenko had shown no remorse for his actions and had repeatedly tried to blame others.

The abuse began when the victim was just 12 and ended just before she turned 17 when she finally reported it to police.

Karenko was also banned from working with children and from having a camcorder or camera, including a mobile phone, unless it was impossible to have one without a camera.

He was convicted on a total of 22 charges including rape, sexual activity with a child under 16 and making indecent images of a child between 2004 and 2009.

He will remain on the sex offenders register for the rest of his life.
