MOST bus services in the borough are running as usual today after a threatened 24-hour walk out by bus drivers was called off.

Thousands of members of the Unite union employed by East London Bus Group (ELBG) were due to go on strike from 3am today over a pay freeze, affecting most bus routes in Waltham Forest and the rest of east London.

ELBG has now made a new pay offer and Unite has suspended its action while members are balloted.

Some workers for another operator CT Plus are currently on strike but services on route W13, which serves Leytonstone, Wanstead and south Woodford, are running as usual as are services for construction workers on the Olympic 2012 site.
