SIXTH-FORMERS at one of the borough's secondary schools will have the chance to put their questions directly to candidates standing in the forthcoming general election.

Staff and students from years 12 and 13 at Woodbridge High School, in St Barnabad Road, Woodford Green, will ask some of the prospective parliamentary candidates at a special event on Thursday (April 22).

Conservative Lee Scott MP, who currently represents the Ilford North constituency, will be on hand to listen to the students' concerns, along with Labour candidate Sonia Klein, the Lib Dems' Alex Berhanu, and Catherine Allen from the Green party.

The school's assistant headteacher, Jeremy Clifton, said the event would emphasise how important it is that sixth-formers who are eligible to vote for the first time exercise their democratic right and make a considered choice on May 6.
