MOTHER'S are being invited to take part in research on breastfeeding.

An online survey set up by primary care trust NHS Waltham Forest aims to discover why some decide not to breastfeed and whether mother's know about local support groups and services.

Dr Kay Eilbert, from NHS Waltham Forest, said: "Breastfeeding is the most natural and best method to nurture babies. "It also helps reduce the risk of babies developing a number of illnesses.

"We are looking at ways to increase the number of women locally who breastfeed their babies, and the length of time they breastfeed for.

"It is important that we get the views of as many mums as possible from Waltham Forest.”

The survey closes on Friday, October 1, and can be found by clicking here or by calling 020 8430 7442.

Mothers who feel they need help and support to breastfeed successfully can attend breastfeeding support groups across the borough.

A list of local breastfeeding support groups is also available online at www.walthamforest.nhs.uk or by calling the local Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) on 020 8539 3939.
