A CHURCH in Leytonstone is preparing for the St Michaelmas fair this month.

The annual event, held at St John's Church in Church Lane, Leytonstone, celebrates the feast of archangel St Michael, which falls on September 29 in the Christian calender.

The fair will also mark the 176th anniversary of the church in Leytonstone, where visitors will be able to visit gift stalls and enjoy live music.

There will be craft stalls and a bouncy castle for children, who can also ride on a miniature railway hired for the day.

The fair will take place on Saturday, September 25 from 11am to 4pm.
