A WOMAN was punched unconscious by a robber who then stole her car.

Police said the 38-year-old local woman was parking her car on the roadside in Englands Lane, Loughton, and had just opened the boot when she was struck on the head with an unknown object.

She was then punched in the head causing her to lose consciousness. The last thing she remembers is someone snatching the keys from her hand.

After the assault, the robber made off with his victim's black BMW, 1 series which had a 59 plate.

The woman was taken to hospital by ambulance to Whipps Cross Hospital, Leytonstone, where she was treated and released the next morning. She sustained severe bruising and abrasions to her face.

Investigating officer DC Saber Mhatay said: “The woman is very shaken and shocked by her ordeal. This was a very nasty incident and the unprovoked attacker used totally unnecessary violence, simply to steal a car.

"I would appeal for anyone who has any information about who is responsible, or anyone who saw a suspicious person hanging around the area that evening, to contact detectives at Loughton police station on 0300 333 4444, or give information anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”

The incident happened around 8pm on Monday, October 25.

It took place one week after a 47-year-old woman fought off an attempted car-jacker in Old Station Road, Loughton, and one month after a 25-year-old woman was beaten to the floor by a robber in Rous Road, Buckhurst Hill, who then made off with her BMW.
