MORE than 60 short mat bowlers from across the district and beyond chanced their arm at the 21st Annual Bowls Gala Day.
The event, at Epping Sports Centre, attracted 16 bowls clubs ranging from Woodford in the south to Sheering in the north who took part in a full day of competition watched over by district council chairman Anne Grigg.
After a fun but competitive session of play, Upshire Bowls Club came out on top beating Queen Hall, from North Weald, in the final.
They were awarded their trophy by Mrs Grigg who thanked the district council’s Sports Development Team for organising the day.
