A CHURCH which has been up for sale for five months could be about to find a new owner.

The Cambridge Park Methodist Church in Wanstead closed its doors to worshippers last year.

Estate agents Cluttons, who have been handling the sale of the church, held two open days in May.

The deadline for sealed bids was in June, and it is believed representatives of the Methodist Church are close to agreeing a sale with a buyer.

A spokesman for Cluttons said: β€œAn offer has been accepted and we are looking to exchange very shortly.”

Neither Cluttons or The Methodist Church were willing to disclose the identity of the buyer, but several religious organisations are believed to have been interested in purchasing the church.
