A 19-year-old man is in a stable condition after being stabbed in the leg.
He was attacked in Billet Road, Walthamstow, near the junction with Durban Road, at just after 1pm yesterday (Tuesday October 18).
A 17-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the incident and police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
It is not believed to be gang-related but a spokesman said officers were keeping an open mind over a motive.
Police, ambulance crews and an air ambulance all attended the scene.
They were called shortly before 1.15pm by a passer-by.
The victim is currently recovering in hospital.
A Met spokesman said: "Billet Road was busy at the time of the incident and many people may have seen what happened."

In is the second reported stabbing in Walthamstow in less than a week, but the two incidents are not believed to be connected.
