YOUNG people with an interest in politics have the chance to stand for election.

Anyone aged between 11 and 19 who lives or studies in Redbridge is eligible to apply for nomination to the UK Youth Parliament which represents the views of young people all over the country.

Members meet in the Houses of Parliament twice a year, run campaigns and get the chance to influence decision-makers on the issues that matter most to them.

There are places for two Members of Youth Parliament (MYP) and two deputies up for grabs in Redbridge.

To stand for election youngsters need to explain why they want to be a Redbridge MYP and what skills and attributes they would bring to the role.

Fifteen candidates will then be chosen and asked to attend a workshop where they will write their manifestos.

Voting will take place across all Redbridge schools between January 30 and February 9 next year.

The deadline for nominations is November 30.

To stand for election visit www.redbridge.gov.uk/redbridegyouth and complete the nomination form, or email youth.council@redbridge.gov.uk or call 020 8708 3713 to have an application form sent by post.
