CLEANERS on the London Underground have started a 48 hour strike in a row over pay and "recognition" for their work during the Olympics.
RMT union staff working for Initial and ISS have vowed to protest outside key stations in the capital, including Stratford by the Olympic Park and the depot at Hainault.
Transport for London (TfL) says journeys will not be disrupted and denies that cleaners have been treated unfairly.
It said an agreement had been reached with unions over Olympics-time pay.
But RMT general secretary Bob Crow said: "With the eyes of the world on the London Olympics the many millions enjoying the events around the globe must not forget the London transport cleaners on minimum pay rates doing some of the dirtiest jobs in often appalling conditions with no Olympics recognition and reward whatsoever."
The strike will end at 5.30am on Saturday (August 11).
