CHILDREN have become published poets and authors after the Olympics inspired them to put pen to paper.

An anthology of the work of 170 pupils from different schools in Waltham Forest is due to be published later this month after they teamed up with professional storytellers and poets to write about Olympic and Paralympic ideals, and how athletes' environments contribute to their success.

The kids visited Vestry House Museum in Vestry Road, Walthamstow, over eight weeks to participate in workshops with storytelling organisation Wizard Stories, and local writers Paula David, Jane Ulysses and Freddy Macha.

The book, titled 'Winning Words', will be to all the borough's schools later this month.
