FORMER Times journalist and presenter of BBC's Panorama went back to school yesterday to give a talk on the upcoming American presidential elections.
Fred Emery, a former student of Bancroft's School, in High Road, Woodford Green talked to year 11, 12 and 13 students about the race to become President by Barack Obama and Mitt Romney.
Having written books on US politics and spent many years in the USA Mr Emery had plenty of experience on the subject matter, which was enjoyed by the students.
Year 13 politics student Luxi Ellalan, 17, said: "As a politics student it was really useful to have an expert’s point of view, especially as Mr Emery is so experienced. He was a very charismatic speaker and made his subject accessible to everyone."
Mr Emery refused to reveal who he thought would win and said: "It’s the bookmakers who know best."
Mr Emery attended Bancroft's School between 1944 and 1951 before embarking on a long and successful career as a journalist.
