A Lloyds Bank branch has had its front windows smashed and damaged.

Police were called to Station Road, Edgware at 4:45 am today (October 30) to reports of criminal damage and a fire outside a “commercial premises”.

The Lloyds Bank on Station Road was found with its front door and window smashed after officers and the London Fire Brigade attended.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “A 32-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of arson. He was taken to a north London police station where he remains in custody.”

The London Fire Brigade have also confirmed that they were called to reports of rubbish being set on fire and that the fire was under control by 5:02am after two fire engines from Stanmore Fire Station attended.
