Tottenham are preparing a bid close to £30m for Aston Villa striker Christian Benteken in January.
Spurs were heavily interested in the Belgium frontman in the summer but were put off by Villa's £26m price tag.
Tottenham turned to Valencia striker Roberto Soldado who Spurs believed represented less of a risk than the 22-year-old.
However Andre Villas-Boas is still not happy with his striking options and wants Benteke to complete the pack.
Tottenham brought in a host of new players in the summer but, with the £86m sale of Gareth Bale, still ended up making a profit at the end of the window.
That means there is money to spend in January and Benteke appears to be the top target.
