The East London Boxing Academy celebrated a successful weekend in the ring at the Dagenham Boxing Club show, with three of their young fighters picking up important wins.
Patrick Joe was first to enter the ring as he came up against Brentwood’s Blue Richardson, and the 11-year-old was to secure a first round win by a standing count after the referee stopped the bout early on.
Things got even better for the East London club when they recorded their second win of the day through Zeeshan Ali, who defeated Dagenham’s Akash Bhangal in three rounds, in an entertaining bout which was named as fight of the night.
In what proved to be a close fight between two evenly matched boxers, Ali got off to a good start by winning the first round, but he was pegged back by Akash, who won the best boxer at Dagenham’s last show, in the second.
After his opponent was docked points after losing his gum shield three times, Ali dug in and secured a unanimous victory in the final round, to add to his unbeaten run of four wins.
Last up was East London’s Uzair Maqboul and he made it a clean sweep for the club, as he defeated Dagenham’s Awais Khan in a close bout which was ultimately decided by a split decision.
Javid Iqbal, Chairman of East London Boxing Academy, said: “Overall it was a great night for the East London Boxing Academy. The club is growing from strength to strength and has many young boxers waiting to replicate the success of its club members.”
