Leyton Orient’s injury woes have continued, with the news that centre half Josh Coulson has suffered a broken toe.

The 28-year-old limped off in the first half on Saturday and was replaced by Marvin Ekpiteta, who made his home debut as Orient ran out 4-1 winners against Barrow.

Coulson joined the O’s permanently in January from Cambridge United, having spent the first half of the campaign on loan at Brisbane Road, and has established himself as a key member of Orient’s defence, making 27 league appearances this campaign, scoring once.

It is currently unclear how long the centre-back will be out for, but it would seem it is doubtful he will play again this season.

Assistant coach Ross Embleton confirmed after the final whistle on Saturday that Coulson had suffered a toe injury.

He said: “It was his toe – the inside of his big toe I believe. He’s walked out with his foot in a boot and I think sometimes that clouds everybody’s judgment on the injury. It’s standard behaviour to put him in that to protect it and wait for it to settle down over the next 24 hours. He made contact with someone’s boot as he tried to clear it.”
