Mossford Table Tennis Club hosted the West Essex Masters tournament this week which pitted the top eight players from each division against each other.

The three winners all faced tough opposition in their finals after coming through some difficult qualifying games.

In the Division One event, Daniel Bronziet took the victory in the final as he came up against Paul Pells.

Bronziet won the game in straight sets, opening with an 11-9 victory before an 11-8 success set up a must-win set for Pells, but Bronziet’s most convincing win of the lot, 11-5, secured the title.

National Schools Under-13 Girls champions Malihad Baig then came out on top in the Division Two final against Jacob Ling.

Baig took the first set 11-8 before Ling pulled it back with a reverse of the first game’s score, but the youngster stormed back with 11-3 and 11-9 wins.

Finally, Rob Gayler recovered from an 11-6 loss to Ujitha De Zoysa in the first set of their Division Three match.

Gayler won the second set 12-10 and clinched the title with an 11-8 success in the final set.
