Ronnie O'Sullivan marked his return to the BetVictor Shoot Out with a first round victory over Alan McManus at Watford Colosseum.
The Chigwell star, making only his third appearance in the quickfire tournament, was back after a five-year gap and eased through by 54-10.
Amine Amiri fell foul of the Shoot Out rules, not once but twice.
Players have to hit a cushion or pot a ball with every shot, but Amiri bizarrely rolled up to the black on two occasions.
Michael Holt took advantage of those ball-in-hand fouls to seal victory 69-38.
Barry Pinches also sealed his own fate when he called foul on himself against Ryan Day.
The Welshman punished Pinches' honesty to make a break of 85 and take the frame 117-6.
Fraser Carrington overcame Stuart Patrick 56-7 and there were also wins for Ali Carter, Barry Hawkins, Jack Lisowski, Joe Perry and Liang Wenbo Peter Lines beat fellow Englishman Sam Craigie 58-16 and will play defending champion Thepchaiya Un-Nooh in round two.
