Dagenham and Redbridge 4
Barnet 2
(Johnstone’s Paint Trophy, first round)
JOHN STILL made six changes to his starting line-up but saw his troops book their place in the next round of the trophy with victory over London rivals Barnet.
Paul Benson opened the scoring after four minutes, turning in a rebound after a good move involving Glen Southam and Mark Nwokeji.
The north Londoners were back on level terms just two minutes later when Adam Birchall fired home, before the same player put the Bees in front on 16 minutes with a well taken header.
Nwokeji, making his first competitive appearance for the club, levelled the scores on 28 minutes with a calmly struck effort ito the bottom corner.
And Benson brought an action-packed first half to end by putting the Daggers back in front with a neat lob.
A quieter second half saw Southam wrap up the Daggers win from the penalty spot after Jon Nurse was hauled down by Aswad Thomas.
Dag & Red: Thompson, Okuonghae, Boardman, Uddin, Griffiths, Southam, Graham, Patterson (Lokando 58), Taiwo, Nwokeji (Nurse 54), Benson (Strevens 46). Subs Not Used: Roberts, Tejan-Sie.
