Eton Manor rugby club managed to get their first win of the season with an emphatic 51-25 away win against Hammersmith and Fulham.

It was a good start to the game for the visitors as a highly motivated Manor pack gathered the kick off and captain John Robinson led from the front with a series of charges into the Hammersmith defence.

The opening try came inside the first five minutes when Robinson burst through the defensive line again and fed Francis Nel who quickly moved the ball on to Nick Horton who crossed the line.

Manor missed the conversion and immediately gave Hammersmith a chance to get on the scoreboard with a penalty that was converted. Robinson again took charge of the Eton attack and scored a try which was converted before Reece Reed added two penalties to give Manor a healthy 3-18 lead.

But a resilient Hammersmith fought their way back into the contest and managed to score two tries to leave them trailing by eight points at the break.

The first points of the second period went the way of the hosts who scored a penalty to increase the pressure on an Eton side who had yet to win a game.

Manor had suffered from poor discipline over the last three games but they were exceptional throughout the match and Reed and Nel steadied any nerves the visitors had with two converted tries.

The home side seemed shocked as Callum McKie marshalled his troops round the pitch and kept the pressure on.

Hammersmith refused to give up and went over the line once again for another try but Alex Hunter and Reed both ended any hopes the hosts had by scoring two converted tries to win the game.
