Talented amateur footballer Ben Head is in the mix to win a professional playing contract with League Two side Swindon Town.

The 19-year-old midfielder from Leytonstone has been selected to take part in first-round trials that could lead to a dream professional contract.

Head entered Samsung’s nationwide Win A Pro Contract competition in a bid to sign for Paolo Di Canio’s Swindon.

Win A Pro ambassador and ex-Swindon player Chris Kamara is convinced the competition will be a life changing experience for the winner.

Kamara said: “Win A Pro Contract is a great break for one lucky lad. He might start off in the Football League and work his way to the Premier League, who knows?

“So many players are rejected by clubs, or do not get an opportunity to shine. Win A Pro is a great initiative by Samsung, it will be a huge honour for whoever wins it.”

Sky Sports News presenter Hayley McQueen is also backing Win A Pro after seeing young players fall out of the game during her time working for MUTV.

McQueen said: “When I was working at Manchester United there were so many boys there who had big dreams and were close to making the grade.

“Some made it, but lots were left disappointed. It was hard to see because it’s obviously very difficult to take at a young age.

“The entrants have to see Win A Pro as a chance to change their lives. And who knows, we could be talking about their goals on the TV before too long.”

Win A Pro hopefuls take part in national and regional trials, before the winner is chosen by Di Canio and joins up with their first-team squad in the January transfer window.
