More than 150 children descended on Eton Manor Rugby club to take part in the annual Christchurch-Eton Manor tag rugby festival.

Several primary schools were invited to the festival with children between the age of nine to eleven taking part.

For some of the sides, such as Cranbrook and Aldersbrook, it was the first time they had taken part in a tag rugby tournament and Aldersbrook ended up finishing sixth out of the 16 teams that entered.

The winners of the main competition were Lady of Lourdes who defeated second place St Anthony’s Catholic School by five tries to four in the final. Oakdale Primary School finished in third.

Christchurch Primary School’s first team defeated Glade 5-3 in the final of the plate competition and the winners of the bowl tournament were St Anthony's Second team.

Downshall Primary school came away as winners of the shield competition.

Each team in the tournament played six games with the plate, bowl and shield competition enabling the losing sides from the group stage and quarter finals to continue playing.
