NORTH London Shotokan Karate Club launched a major attack on the National 2008 Kata and Kumite Championships.

And it paid off as the squad of 25 members collected an armful of trophies, with a large number coming from Chingford.

First up was the black and brown belt kata category with Natasha De Bono (gold), Ferhat Seferoglu (silver), Jane De Bono (bronze) all in form.

The junior and cadet black and brown belt kata was won by Natasha De Bono, while Cuneyt Belber took silver and Alex Cadwallender bronze.

In the adult categories, Jane De Bono won gold and Hasret Hamit silver.

In the junior kata, this was won by Ellen Welsh. Serkan Seferoglu won silver and Erhan Osman and Vinay Masuria both took bronze awards.

Ashley Capina won the novice kata, with Sheniz Akanay achieving silver and Denvir Ibrahim bronze.

In the kumite ladies black belt Natasha De Bono received her third gold of the afternoon.

The junior and cadet black and brown belt kumite was won by Cuneyt Belber, as Alex Cadwallender took silver.

In the novice kumite, Denvir Ibrahim won gold, Ashley Capina silver, and Jayden Bowlay-Williams and Akis Panayi both achieved bronzes.

The junior under-4ft 10ins novice was won by Sam Redfearn, with Serkan Seferoglu winning silver, and Emine Osman and Hakan Akanay both collecting bronze trophies.

Ellen Welsh toko gold in the junior over-4ft 10ins, as Erhan Osman won silver.

Coach John De Bono said: “With a trophy tally of eleven gold, ten silvers and 11 bronzes it was a fantastic day for all who took part.

“I am so proud of all of them. It has been a very successful year and I can't wait for 2009.”
